Cambridge, Mass. - Senior Kasey Hill set a school indoor track record with 3,791 points on Saturday at the Harvard pentathlon. Hill also became a NCAA provisional qualifier with her score. The pentathlon is a five-event competition, which includes the 60-meter hurdles, the high jump, the shot put, the long jump and a 800-meter race. Hill had the previous record at Boston College with 3,644 points, which she set last season.
Hill ran the 60-meter hurdles in 8.5 seconds and had a time of 2:23.1 in the 800-meters. She had a score of 11.14 meters in the shot put, as well as a leap of 1.64 meters in the high jump. Hill had a long jump measurement of 5.35 meters in the event.
Junior Tiana Riel became second all-time in school history with 3,678 points in the same competition. Riel had a time of 8.6 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles and 2.29 in the 800-meter race. She had a high jump mark of 1.58 meters and a long jump score of 5.58 meters. Riel's shot put measurement was 10.98 meters.
Sophomore Katherine Sherman set the fourth-best score in school history with 3,533 points. Freshman Miriam Khan scored 2,987 points, while senior Erica Marcus had 2,929 points.
Boston College will next compete in a pentathlon on January 26, 2007 at Clemson.
